The APR is an annual examination process:

SEPTEMBER - NOVEMBER

A few months before the December application deadline, you should carefully evaluate your commitment for the following year. Will you have the time, resources and motivation required to complete the accreditation examination? Once you have decided to apply:

  • consult the Chair of the CPRS (Toronto) accreditation committee for guidance and assistance ;
  • consult with members who have recently attained their accreditation for insight and advise;
  • identify possible PR cases for your work sample and discuss them in detail with the CPRS Toronto Accreditation Officer and other accredited members ;
  • identify three colleagues, two of whom are accredited members of CPRS, who are willing to attest to your skills as a practitioner - these references are required as part of your formal application;
  • complete the confidential application of accreditation available from the CPRS National Office and ensure it is returned by the December 1st deadline.

DECEMBER 1ST

Is the deadline for the APR application and supporting documentation to the CPRS national office. The National Council on Accreditation approves APR applications and will notify the candidate by the end of January. We encourage all candidates to notify the local Accreditation Chair of your application and acceptance into the process.

FEBRUARY

Draft the accreditation work sample and discuss it with the CPRS (Toronto) Accreditation Chair and at least two accredited colleagues.

MARCH

Complete your APR work sample, prepare three copies, and submit them to the CPRS National Office before the April 1st deadline.

APRIL 1ST

Deadline for the accreditation work sample.

APRIL - SEPTEMBER

Research, study and preparation for the APR written examination.

OCTOBER - NOVEMBER

The written and oral examinations are generally scheduled for late October or early November.

JANUARY

You receive formal notice of your performance in the accreditation process. If you are successful, you will be recognized as an accredited member following the presentation of your certificate at the CPRS national annual general meeting.
