Andrew Berthoff specializes in public relations for the technology industry. He has a comprehensive understanding of information technology from diverse perspectives, and is responsible for the management and continued excellent service of the Environics Technology group.
Since joining Environics in 1994, Andrew has managed more than 50 technology clients, from enterprise hardware, to services, to consumer software, to gaming. He has received more than 30 national and international public relations industry awards for his work at Environics.
In his communications career, he has delivered and directed marketing and corporate communications programs for many major companies, such as Xerox, eBay, Yahoo!, Microsoft, Toshiba, Canon, 3Com, Polaroid, StorageTek, Palm, and the Canadian Standards Association. He manages Environics’ award-winning Web site, and provides strategic counsel on Internet communications to clients.
Andrew has managed communications efforts for many IT industry leaders, including Bill Gates, Chairman and CEO, Microsoft Corp.; Anne Mulcahy, president and CEO, Xerox Corp.; Eric Benhamou, CEO, 3Com Corp.; and Jeff Mallet, Yahoo! Inc.
Before entering public relations, Andrew was Editor of Computing Now! and Business Computer News, two computer trade publications. In computer publishing, Berthoff gained an intimate knowledge of the high-tech industry, and is able to use that insight and consideration with clients and audiences alike.
A citizen of both the United States and Canada, Andrew has a bachelor's degree in English Literature from Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota, and he has also studied at Stirling University in Scotland. He is one of the world’s top bagpipers, and has competed successfully in international events. Andrew is editor and publisher of pipes|drums, an online magazine with a worldwide following that achieves more than 1.5 million visits annually. His blog on piping is read by more than 4000 people every day. He chairs the Music Board of Directors of the Pipers & Pipe Band Society of Ontario.
Andrew holds an APR (accredited in public relations) accreditation from the Canadian Public Relations Society. He lives in Toronto, is married and has a young daughter.
