John M. Muldoon, APR, FCPRS

Toronto District School Board



John Muldoon is Manager, Communications and Public Affairs, for the Toronto District School Board, North America's fourth largest school board ­ with over 270,000 students, 32,000 staff and more than 600 sites.

John has worked in public relations, public affairs and communications for over 35 years, and has taught, written and lectured on a wide spectrum of communication theories and best practices. His diversity of experience provides him with a better understanding of ways to manage those unexpected issues that every organization faces.

Prior to joining the TDSB, John has worked for Molsons Brewery, Scotiabank, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, the former City of North York, Peel Regional Police Service, and operated a private consultancy with private and public sector clients.

He is a life member of the Canadian Public Relations Society, Past President CPRS (Toronto)Inc. a member of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), the Public Affairs Association of Canada, the National School of Public Relations Association, and the Issue Management Council of Washington, D.C.

In 2004, John was inducted into the Canadian Public Relations Society's prestigious College of Fellows (he is one of only 43 Fellows in Canada) for his ongoing commitment and dedication to promoting the practice of public relations in Canada.

For the past year John has been on medical leave from the Board recoverying from a chronic medical condition. He hopes to be back at the Board soon.
