CPRS (Toronto) offers a variety of membership opportunities to the communications professionals and those who aspire to make a career in communications. According to the bylaws of CPRS Toronto, following are the categories of membership:
- Member (national, voting)
- Associate Member (national, non-voting)
- Student Member (Toronto Society, non-voting)
- Affiliate Member (Toronto Society, non-voting)
- Retired Member (non-voting).
The fee structure of these membership categories also differs as is the right to cast vote. The benefits to joining CPRS are endless and it doesn't matter whether you are new to the world of PR or if you have been a PR professional over the past 10 years or so, everyone is welcomed to participate.
The duration of all memberships is one year.
MEMBER (National)
- Any individual who is practicing public relations full time, or teaching a CPRS-recognized full-time public relations program.
- Fee: $395.20
- Renewal fee: $342.20
ASSOCIATE (National)
- An individual who is not practicing public relations full time or an individual who is not working in public relations, but has graduated from a CPRS recognized full time program.
- Fee: $395.20
- Renewal fee: $342.20
STUDENT
Student members (full-time and part-time), enrolled in a CPRS-recognized public relations or corporate communications program, will receive CPRS Toronto information and member access to the CPRS Toronto Online Web site.
- Full-time and part-time programs, annual cost: $40
- One year post-graduation, cost: $50
AFFILIATE
Designed for PR practitioners in the early years of their career, who have graduated from an educational institution during the past three years, CPRS (Toronto) Inc. Affiliate membership offers potential members all the information, networking and volunteer benefits of belonging to CPRS (Toronto), but at a special "early stage" practitioners' price.
To be considered for the Affiliate membership category of CPRS (Toronto), the potential member works in PR or communications on either a full or part time basis, and received their PR certificate or educational degree or diploma from an accredited educational institution during the previous 3-year period.
A CPRS (Toronto) society member may hold the Affiliate membership status for a maximum of 24 months; after that time, to retain membership the society member must change their status and become a full member of the National society.
The Affiliate member receives all society information, privileges and rights accorded to full members of CPRS (Toronto), including society events, initiatives, publications and volunteer opportunities. The Affiliate member is not eligible to receive services of the National CPRS office*. The cost of the CPRS (Toronto) Affiliate membership is $115.00/year.

*National member services include news bulletins, annual membership directory, voting at the National Annual General Meeting, receiving members' rate at the annual national conference, and access to the members' only areas of the national CPRS website.
RETIRED
- This membership is for any practitioner who is retired from full-time employment.
- Cost: $65
APPLYING FOR CPRS (Toronto) MEMBERSHIP
You can apply for the membership of CPRS Toronto by:
- Printing the pdf version of the Application Form and mailing it to CPRS Secretariat.
- Calling the CPRS Toronto Secretariat for a Membership application kit.
